Browser workspace & optional extension

Privacy & local data

Updated 8 October 2026 · Browser workspace 1.0.1 and extension 0.1.3

SiteProof processes screenshots and saves projects locally in your browser. The website workspace and extension use separate stores. This page explains what is kept and what happens when you share a file or contact us.

What your workspace stores

Projects can contain client and studio names you enter, website change descriptions, page URLs, screenshots, timestamps, viewport information, report versions and imported client feedback. You control the data you enter or import.

Website projects stay in this browser

The browser workspace stores projects in an IndexedDB database for this website in your current browser profile. Selecting an image processes it locally; SiteProof does not upload screenshots, projects or feedback to a server.

The workspace has no account, analytics, advertising tracker, external AI service or cloud synchronization. Browser data can disappear when you clear this site’s data, use a temporary/private profile, or change browsers or devices. Download project backups for work you need to keep.

You need a connection to load the website and its files. It is not an installable offline application. Exported HTML reports include their images and work offline.

The extension has a separate local store

The optional Chrome and Edge extension stores its data in its own IndexedDB database. Website projects are not automatically available in the extension, and extension projects are not automatically available on the website. Use a JSON project backup to move an editable project between them.

The extension does not transmit screenshots or projects to an external server, track browsing history, or capture in the background. Links you choose to open behave like normal browser links.

Capture and extension permissions

Page capture is available only in the extension. A screenshot is taken when you choose Capture visible page on a normal HTTP or HTTPS page. It covers the visible viewport, which can contain personal or client information.

Automatically captured URLs have query strings, fragments and embedded credentials removed. The page path and title are retained. You control manually entered URLs and notes.

The extension requests activeTab for temporary access to the selected page after your action, and scripting to read the viewport width and height. It does not request persistent access to all sites. The website workspace cannot capture another tab.

Exporting and sharing

HTML reports and JSON project backups can include screenshots and client information. SiteProof generates them locally. Sending, uploading, printing or forwarding a downloaded file is a separate action you perform through your chosen tools.

Cover sensitive image areas and inspect the final exported report before sharing. Later edits or redactions do not change copies already exported. Exported HTML, PDF and JSON files must be deleted separately from local projects.

Client feedback

A report recipient can generate a feedback JSON file. They return the file through email, chat or another service, and the project owner imports it manually. Feedback stays tied to the report version and does not automatically go to a server.

SiteProof does not verify the recipient’s identity or provide electronic signatures. Project backups do not include imported feedback: keep the original feedback JSON files separately.

Deleting data and keeping backups

Deleting a project removes its locally stored images and imported feedback. Website data remains until you delete it or clear this site’s storage through your browser. Extension data remains until you delete it, clear the extension’s data or remove the extension.

A queued extension capture is consumed only when it is saved successfully into a project. Unopened captures older than 24 hours are removed when a later capture is saved; cleanup does not run on a timer. Clearing all extension data removes remaining temporary captures.

Local storage is not a separate backup. Export project backups before clearing browser data, removing the extension or changing its installed folder. Keep feedback files separately.

Website delivery and hosting

Loading this website, the workspace, a sample report, a video or a download sends ordinary requests to the hosting provider. Hosting infrastructure may process standard request and security logs, such as IP addresses and request information, to deliver and protect the site. This operates separately from your local project database.

The page code does not include analytics, advertising trackers or third-party fonts. SiteProof does not send local project contents to the host. Clicking external links, using your browser’s features or sharing an exported file is subject to the services you choose.

Service inquiries and email

The assisted report request page and visual launch-review inquiry build email drafts in your page’s memory. It does not submit an inquiry to a server or save your brief and contact email in SiteProof storage. Copying the draft or opening your email app is your choice; nothing is sent until you send the email.

If you contact SiteProof Support, your email provider and the recipient’s provider handle the message. We receive what you choose to send and use it to discuss or deliver your requested service. Send only approved information; do not send website passwords, access tokens or payment card details.

The optional $29 assisted report and $49 visual launch-review pilot are agreed separately by email, including scope, timing and an available payment method before work begins. The review uses only agreed public pages in a browser, with no account login or checkout transaction; screenshots and observations are shared through the agreed report delivery channel. A report is a visual review, not a security or compliance certification. This website does not collect payments.
